On 21 September 2023, on the margins of the “High Level Week” of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the Annual Meeting of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs).

 

 

 

 

In his statement, Minister Muhriddin emphasized the importance of realizing the transit potential of landlocked countries, including the implementation of regional transport and transit corridors in accelerating the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.

 

 

 

 

Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin also touched upon energy, water and climate issues, outlining them as priority areas for Tajikistan, and called upon the LLDCs to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Water Action Decade “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” and actively participate in the Third Dushanbe Conference on the implementation of the Water Action Decade which will be held in June 2024.

On 21 September 2023, on the margins of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the Preparatory Ministerial Meeting for the Summit of the Future.

 

 

 

In his statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that the Summit of the Future is a unique chance to intensify cooperation in solving contemporary challenges and reaffirming the commitments of member states, including on the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

 

 

 

Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin also addressed issues of environment, water and climate and emphasized the significance of Tajikistan’s initiative to declare the Year of Glacier Preservation, 2025 in joining forces to ensure the resilience of societies and economies affected by the rapid melting of glaciers.

On 21 August 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, newly appointed Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Mr. Kaha Imnadze.

 

 

 

 

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on concrete measures for further strengthening cooperation on combating current challenges and threats, including terrorism and extremism, as well as ensuring sustainable development in Central Asia.

On April 13, 2023, in the city of Samarkand, on the sidelines of the 4th Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of countries bordering Afghanistan, a bilateral meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mrs. Hina Rabbani Khar.

 

 

 

During the meeting, a complex of important issues of cooperation between the two countries and certain issues of the international and regional agenda became the subject of mutual discussion.
